As part of a massive campus-wide hospital expansion plan, Regional Medical Center San Jose needed to build a state of the art dialysis clinic for both in-patient and outpatient use. The chosen new site, in the hospital’s basement, provided Meade’s construction team with numerous unique challenges. This very busy corridor had to be maintained in a safe, clean manner throughout the project. We instituted strict infection control procedures including negative air pressure, access control, regular area cleansing and modified cleanroom protocols. In addition our team maintained extraordinary communications with the adjacent hospital departments and Facilities staff.

When preparing to cut several plumbing trenches into the existing slab-on-grade, Meade conducted an extensive magnetic and infrared investigation of the sub-slab utilities, identifying numerous un-charted electrical and gas lines which would have been directly in the path of the concrete saw. This foresight allowed us to carefully excavate these trenches with no impact on Hospital operations.
