This beautiful 90-year old residential building on the Stanford University campus was long overdue for an extensive overhaul. Meade Construction Group, Inc. turned this tired, sagging old house into a fresh, clean, code-compliant home for incoming students. In six months, the project team removed several areas of interior construction, walls, stairs and ceilings. Reconstruction to improve the emergency exiting required reconfiguration of the upper floors.
The kitchen and restrooms were gutted and rebuilt ? probably the most noticeable improvements. Structurally a substantial concrete beam was installed in the crawl space to support the stone fireplace. Heating, plumbing, fire alarm and electrical upgrades followed. Finally the two-acre site was completely re-landscaped and new site structures were constructed where old sheds had been removed. The new facility should last for many more years without needing further upgrades. |
