XOMA elected to upgrade their Building 2 pharmacutical manufacturing facility for compliance with EMEA and FDA requirements.

In a true design/build role, Meade assembled and directed a team consisting of Fluor and key design/ build subcontractors for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and process piping.

The project included extensive remodeling throughout XOMA’s Fill Area, Purification and Fermentation Suites. Work also involved extensive upgrade and redistribution of the mechanical systems in the interstitial space above the entire process area.

A comprehensive study of XOMA’s personnel flows and processes was performed. To accommodate increased air flow requirements and cascading, numerous supply air and exhaust systems were upgraded.

Meade enabled XOMA’s partial use of the facility by utilizing barriers, and interim air balancing to maintain proper air changes and cascading. Precise scheduling of the work was required to integrate the upgrades while reducing impact to XOMA’s ongoing operations.
