Renovation work on the historic Plumed Horse Restaurant in Saratoga began with the demolition of the existing bar and dining area including removal of part of the main level floor structure for the future 2 ½ story glass wine room.
We seismically upgraded the existing aged wood structure to allow for the new improvements. This included new steel beams in the peaked ceiling of the future bar as well as new concrete footings at the existing brick fireplace.
The true challenge of this project involved the new finishes which transformed this dark rustic restaurant into a contemporary elegant dining experience. The new bar area, for example, includes a radius venetian plaster ceiling, sapeli wood paneling and bar, back lit onyx stone on the bar front, and a new remotely controlled gas fireplace.
The dining area included new sycamore beam wraps and floating panels, leather wall mirror surrounds, and 3 fiber optic chandeliers from Norway that rotate colors as the diners enjoy their meals.
The new glass wine room extended up 2 ½ stories from the basement floor and included a glass floor at the main level of the restaurant. The wine room separates the restaurant area from the bar area and houses thousands of bottles of wine.
